Fashion and Fun with a Serious Message

Featuring Dawn Calderon, D.O.

Februrary 20, Meridian Health will celebrate American Heart Month with its sixth annual Red Dress Event, an evening of fun and fashion – with a serious message.

At the event, which will be held at the Watermark in Asbury Park, guests will have a chance to learn from Meridian CardioVascular Network experts, including Dawn Calderon, D.O., FACC, chief of Cardiology & director of the Adult Congenital Heart Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

“The Red Dress is a stylish symbol with a serious message. It’s an important reminder that heart disease is still the #1 killer of women in the United States, and that we need to empower and educate women to take charge of their own heart health,” says Dr. Calderon.

In the video below, watch as Dr. Calderon discusses in further detail how heart disease differs in women.

Red Dress festivities will include front-row view of the dresses from acclaimed designers, including Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Michael Kors. Select dresses debuted at NYC Red Dress Collection fashion shows, and were modeled by celebrity supporters such as entertainment host and Asbury Park native Wendy Williams, Hollywood’s most famous “Momager” Kris Jenner, and supermodel and host of Lifetime TV’s Project Runway – Heidi Klum.
